Essential Functions

TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USE

  • Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
  • Understands equipment operation.

DOCUMENTATION

  • Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.
  • Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.

CLEANING AND DECONTAMINATION OF PATIENT EQUIPMENT

  • Cleans and decontaminates patient equipment.
  • Receives and cleans patient equipment.
  • Tests equipment to make sure it is working properly.
  • Reports defective equipment to supervisor.

RECEIVING AND STOCKING SPECIALTY CART

  • Cleans, decontaminates, and stocks all specialty carts.
  • Receives and cleans specialty cart.
  • Checks cart for missing supplies and applies patient charges.
  • Restocks carts with appropriate supplies.

BIOLOGICAL TESTING

  • Performs Biological Testing.
  • Conducts biological testing on each steam sterilizer daily and with each that contains implants.
  • Conducts biological testing on each Sterrad sterilizer daily.
  • Conducts biological testing on ETO machine.
  • Documents all biological testing performed on each sterilizer.

SCOPE CLEANING

  • Cleans GI scopes, bronchoscopes, etc.
  • Receives, leak tests, and decontaminates flexible scopes.
  • Cleans scopes according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Processes scope using AER or Medtricide soaking solution.

CASE CART PREPARATION

  • Assembles case cart for operating room procedures.
  • Reads case cart pick list.
  • Prepares case cart for the next day schedule and any add-on case.

Additional Duties

  • Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission, and vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
  • For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
