Qualifications

  • 2 year/Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (Required)

Work Experience

  • 1 - 2 years Respiratory therapy in a healthcare environment (Required)

Licenses and Certifications

Required Certifications/Licensures:

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Essential Functions

RRT JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide assistance to ensure the quality of the department
  • Provide efficient, cost effective, timely, safe, high quality and customer focused patient care and serve as a patient advocate at all times
  • Provide effective airway management for respiratory patients
  • Perform diagnostic procedures
  • Remove medications and administer medications
  • Ensure work area is stocked and appropriate equipment is available
  • Respond to stat, code blues or RAT calls, as appropriate, and all other emergency codes
  • Perform invasive procedures, including ABGs, insertion of arterial catheters and endo-tracheal intubations following correct procedure after competencies have been validated

Documentation

  • Document and submit required information and data in a timely fashion
  • Clearly and accurately document designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.
  • Ensure that documentation is tailored to expected readers/users
  • Use correct terminology
  • Conform to required style and format

Technology and Equipment Use

  • Demonstrate technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role
  • Understand equipment operation
  • Maintain equipment in working order
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Use technology to increase productivity
  • Adapt to new technology

  • Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time
  • Demonstrate competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs
  • For non-clinical areas, attend training and demonstrate usage of age-specific customer service skills
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate
