JOB SUMMARY
- The Administrative House Manager acts as a hospital administrator in their absence. Communicates with Nurse Managers, Directors, and Administrators regarding problems, interventions, and decisions made by Supervisor. Provides written documentation regarding problems, actions taken, and results. Investigates incidents, discusses with staff as appropriate, and reports all information to leadership. Assesses emergency situations and responds promptly and effectively notifying the appropriate authorities and Administration as needed. Implements disaster plan as needed. Functions as a resource regarding legal aspects of policies and procedures and regulations governing the hospital. Maintains current knowledge of hospital policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge of situations that may affect the overall functioning of the hospital. Functions as a patient advocate. Responds to patient, family, and physician concerns. Assists nursing staff to intervene on the patient's behalf. Understands and utilizes the chain of command as needed to provide quality patient care. Maintains a safe patient environment by reporting safety concerns to the appropriate person. Supports a shared governance style of leadership. Assists nursing units in independently seeking solutions to their problems. Shares knowledge openly. Promotes harmony and teamwork by assisting with conflict resolution. Confers with the Central Staffing Office and Command Center to facilitate movement of patients and staff throughout the hospital. Maintains current knowledge of bed availability and is responsible for the decision to divert patients. Assists in the resolution of staffing issues. Confers with charge nurses in all areas. Makes rounds on patients. Actively participates in Quality Assurance/Improvement Programs. Conducts restraint audits. Responds to all codes. Posts unscheduled/emergent/urgent surgical cases and notifies those on call. Provides access to supplies and equipment. Follows procedure for inter-facility equipment acquisition/borrowing and lending. Considers budget in all decisions and seeks methods for decreasing costs and shares these ideas with staff and management. Maintains a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with people. Uses tact, sensitivity, and sound judgment when relating to patients, families, and co-workers. Displays a professional attitude, including a professional appearance. Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Understands and considers the ramifications decisions may have on other departments. Ensure consistency, dependability, and accuracy when carrying out responsibilities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
- General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
- May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
- May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
- May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- May be scheduled as needed including overtime
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing (Required)
- 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
- 2 - 3 years Nursing Leadership Experience (Required)
- Required Certifications/Licensures: Registered Nurse (RN) with current Georgia license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
