Facility Tech III

JOB SUMMARY

  • Performs skilled tasks, inspection, preventive maintenance & repairs on a broad variety of domestic, commercial, & specialized equipment, including in the following areas: HVAC, control equipment, chilled water, boiler, steam systems; Plumbing systems, pipefitting, backflow preventer maintenance, domestic hot and cold water, sewer; Electrical, electronic equipment, distribution systems supporting pieces of electrical and mechanical equipment used in the operation of the hospital; Fire safety systems; and/or Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines. General technical skills: Performs basic tasks on electrical systems, fire safety systems, HVAC systems, mechanical and plumbing systems, architectural systems, & nurse call and pneumatic tube systems. Architectural systems may include but are not limited to interior and exterior doors (including rated doors), ceiling and wall systems. General tasks may include minor issues on the patient beds and TVs. General tasks include shop cleanup and general maintenance and upkeep. Works independently, as well as with a team & takes initiative. Provides mentoring & training for less skilled technicians. Helps maintain departmental compliance with governmental standards with documentation & with computerized maintenance management systems. Maintains a clean, neat & safe work environment.


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs)
  • Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License and meet auto insurability requirements as approved by Phoebe Putney Health System's insurance company.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
  • May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
  • May be scheduled as needed including overtime
  • As part of employment, occupants with be entering/leaving secure medication storage areas, please note these medications should not be handled by non-licensed personnel and it is occupants’ responsibility area remains locked when exiting. Any issues or concerns regarding medications, can be addressed with a member of the Nursing or Pharmacy staff

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Vocational / Technical Degree in / associate’s degree in HVAC Refrigeration Mechanics, Industrial Systems Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Industrial Electrical Technology, or other related course of study, in lieu of degree; Type II EPA Transition and Recovery Certification or greater or Master Electrician is acceptable (Required)


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 6 - 7 years Electrical repair, HVAC, Plumbing, and/or Mechanical maintenance, installation and or contracting (Required)
  • 5 - 6 Years Healthcare or hospital facility maintenance setting (Preferred)


CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES

  • Preferred Certifications/Licensures: Type II EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification or greater, Master Electrician

  • Must have working knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair responsibilities related to equipment and buildings in a healthcare environment.
  • Must be able to work with principles and mathematical formulae associated with applicable trade(s).

  • Have near normal vision - Clarity of vision (both near and far), ability to distinguish colors
