Fixed Asset Accountant

Description

JOB SUMMARY The employee in this classification will perform all general accounting functions related to fixed asset accounting and financial reporting. This includes preparing and posting journal entries, monthly reconciliations and participation in the month end close process. The employee will also be responsible for maintaining the fixed asset register, depreciation schedules and associated supporting details. This individual will also heavily participate in the annual capital budgeting process. The employee will perform other general accounting functions, which may include general ledger, payables, cash management, payroll and property. The individual may also be assigned projects or duties outside of the fixed asset role. The individual may also be asked to assist the Accounting Director, VP and CFO in analysis and reporting of fixed asset and financial data, both internally and externally. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.


Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Required)
  • Master's Degree in Accounting or other Business Related Field (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 - 3 years an accounting office or department, preferably in a hospital environment. (Required)
