Provides accurate and timely laboratory information based on the performance of analytical tests on human body substances. Correlates and interprets test data. This is done to detect evidence of or prevent disease or impairment and to promote and monitor good health. Monitors quality assurance and maintains laboratory instrumentation including all documentation. Follows established guidelines and protocols to provide requested clinical information to Physicians, nurses, and other relevant health care personnel. Expected to perform phlebotomy duties as needed. May orient and train new employees. Works under the supervision of a qualified medical technologist (either on-site or off-site).
Qualifications
2 year / Associate Degree in Medical Technology OR meet CLIA minimum qualifications for high complexity testing personnel. (Required)
Work Experience
1 year of laboratory experience required if degree is not in Medical Technology
Required Certifications/Licensures:
Certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA, AAB, or other agencies approved by the hiring department.

MEDICAL TECHNICIAN JOB DUTIES:
Under the supervision of a qualified Medical Technologist, provides assistance to the department in accurate and timely results of tests.
Produce accurate and timely results according to established procedures.
Correlates and interprets test data.
Documents work as performed and recognizes abnormal and critical results.
Monitors the quality assurance system to include quality control.
Works independently with little or no supervision.
