Pharmacy Tech - Specialty Pharmacy


  • The specialty pharmacy technician's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the pharmacist in the dispensing of medications, gathering and monitoring medication prior authorizations, and obtaining alternate payer sources on behalf of the patient. The technician will also be a patient care coordinator with duties such as medication reconciliation, tracking, and coordination of refill requests, proactive communication with patients and providers, and providing detailed documentation on all activities performed. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Phoebe.   • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
  • General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
  • May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.


  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Vocational/Technical Degree in Pharmacy Technology or related field (Preferred)
  • 2 years of retail or hospital-based pharmacy experience (Required)
  • 1-year Specialty pharmacy experience (Preferred)
  • Required Certifications/Licensures: Technician Registration with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy AND Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
