Registered Nurse - Dialysis PT 7P - 3A

  • GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Plans and provides care for the pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient in the hospital in accordance with physician orders and hospital policy and procedures 

  • Provides quality direct patient care and renal replacement therapies independently, in a professional and respectful manner 

  • Supervises and directs patient care of unlicensed staff members 

  • Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary team 

  • Documents patient’s physical assessment, vital signs, and all other observations in the electronic medical record, and brings attention to any issues that may arise to the physician and the patient’s primary nurse 

  • Documents, evaluates, and implements dialysis orders 

  • Analyzes patient assessments, orders, and lab results and discusses any discrepancies with the Nephrologist 

  • Communicates emergencies and life-threatening complications and related incidents to charge nurse, manager, primary nurse, and the patients primary physician 

  • Provides initiation and discontinuation of prescribed renal replacement therapy, including but not limited to formulating a plan per physician orders, verifying safety measures are in place and complied with, administering medications or other appropriate treatments, and documenting all activities in the electronic medical record 

  • Demonstrates the ability to transfer skill set and work in other hospital settings when required 

  • Attends hospital orientation and mandatory in-services as required 

  • Verifies accurate documentation is submitted in a timely manner 

  • Provide data and metrics to support continuous process improvements, increase communication and coordination across the hospital care team, and support survey readiness 

  • Independently demonstrates the ability to perform and take call for all provided modalities provided if needed 

  • Act as a resource or preceptor for new staff members and those with less experience 

  • Other duties as assigned

  • WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • General environment: Works in a well-lit, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels 

  • May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights 

  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances 

  • Will be exposed to blood, other body fluids, and infectious organisms 

  • May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure 

  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur 

  • May be scheduled as needed including overtime 

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • 2 year/Associate’s  Degree in nursing from an accredited school (Required) 

  • 4 year/ Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school (Preferred) 


  • EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • 2 years nursing experience in medical surgical, critical care or ER (Required) 

  • Nursing experience in nephrology (Preferred)  

  • CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES 

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current Georgia license 

  • ACLS certification; AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)  

  • Certification as a Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) or a Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) (Preferred not required)
