Senior Systems Analyst - Information Systems

JOB SUMMARY
Plans, organizes and coordinates the implementation and application support activities for multiple major software applications using project management tools and techniques and system expertise. Performs project management including the development and management of action plans, design specifications and budget requirements. Analyzes user requirements and confers with department heads to develop detailed understanding of user needs for Health Information Management systems. Coordinates the interactions between the users of HIM computer applications, the Information Systems Department and related vendor support personnel. Provides application level and technical support for HIM systems utilized by the Health Information Management Department, Physicians, and Hospital staff. Coordinates the activities of Health Information Management, other Hospital departments, vendor staff and Information Systems to ensure the successful implementation of new or modified applications. Develops functional design specifications for new and modified HIM requirements and performs required application programming, table maintenance and configuration. Assists IS staff in the understanding of the end-user requirements. Develops specifications for vendor system selection and coordinates vendor activities. Performs a variety of complicated tasks and may lead and direct the work of others. Performs system studies and makes recommendations for changes, improvements of processes and system replacements. Educates new users, including HIM staff, other hospital staff, and Medical Staff, in all HIM applications. Prepares annual HIM system budget. Provides 24-hour on-call HIM system support. Assists with the hospital forms development for administrative house-wide forms control. 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•    4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business or Health Care Related Discipline (Required) 
    
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•    6 - 7 years Healthcare environment, preferably in a hospital setting, with responsibilities for implementation and/or support of major applications  (Required)
•    2 - 3 years Proficiency in the use and understanding of two or more applications currently used in healthcare environments  (Required)
•    2 - 3 years Broad understanding of process analysis and computer system concepts including hardware, software, operating systems, and network communications  (Required)
•    2 - 3 years Leading software implementations  (Required)
•    2 - 3 years Project management experience  (Required)

•    Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. 

WORKING CONDITIONS
•    General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels. 
•    May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. 
•    Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. 
•    Long-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 10% travel. 
•    May be scheduled as needed including overtime
