JOB SUMMARY
- The Senior X-ray Technologist oversees the operation of the X-ray department for a designated shift. Senior X-ray Tech assigns job assignments to another technologist’s schedule on a shift. Senior X-ray Tech will perform the yearly evaluation on the technologists and auxiliary personnel assign to designated shift. Senior tech serves as the resources for the X-ray staff when needed. Senior techs perform X-ray exams according to established protocols. Senior tech assists the Radiology Director with the budgeting process. Senior Tech is involved with training the technologists as well as the technologists at other Phoebe sites. . The technologist must be knowledgeable about the radiation exposure to the patient and make technical changes according to body habits, age and ALARA principle. The technologist provides direct patient care to all ages of patients. The technologist is to treat every patient with respect, courtesy, and explain the exam to the patient. Senior X-ray technologists must encourage the staff to perform as teams and develop a positive environment for the staff.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines

- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs)
- Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
- Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
- May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
- May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- May be scheduled as needed including overtime

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Vocational / Technical Degree in Radiologic Technology (Required)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 4 - 5 years’ Experience as a X-Ray Technologist (Required)
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
- Required Certifications/Licensures: Certified Radiography (R)(ARRT), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) , Basic life support (BLS)
