JOB SUMMARY
  • The Ultrasound Student Technologist or Sonographer Student performs routine and interventional ultrasound exams according to department protocols under the supervision of a Registered Sonographer and qualified Physician for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. The student technologist provides direct patient care for all ages of patients. The student technologist is to provide very good service; that is to treat every patient with respect, courtesy and explain the exam to the patient. The student technologist must be able to work together with others providing a positive work environment. The student technologist is responsible to provide a safe environment for the patients, fellow employees and themselves. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Phoebe. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines

  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
  • May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.


Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Other Degree in Currently enrolled at a vocational / technical degree program in ultrasound technology and on track to graduate from the program within 6 months of hire and has successfully passed the Physics portion of the ARDMS registry exam (Required)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 0 - 1 year Ultrasound routine and interventional exams. (Preferred)
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
  • Required Certifications/Licensures: Certified Sonography (S)(ARRT), Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Basic Life Support (BLS)
