Essential Functions
ARRHYTHMIA IDENTIFICATION:
Monitor techs will have accurate knowledge of arrhythmia identification before working independently in the Telemetry Monitoring station.
Ability to identify heart blocks.
Ability to identify tachy and brady arrhythmias.
Ability to identify life threatening arrhythmias including Ventricular Tachycardia and Asystole.
Ability to identify heart arrhythmias and rhythms in an appropriate time frame.
Uses the proper communication procedure to notify nurses of patient arrhythmias.
CORRECT OPERATION OF TELEMETRY EQUIPMENT:
Monitor techs will be knowledgeable of correct operation of monitors, telemetry transmitters, fax machine and any other piece of equipment necessary to perform their responsibilities.
Correctly operates the central monitors including inputting of patient information, alarm settings, comments, configuring of screens and other pertinent information.
Correctly cleans, sets up and operates telemetry transmitters.
Correctly operates the fax machine.
Notifies nursing units when the Telemetry system is not functioning.
Notifies nursing units when cardiac rhythms are not picking up on the monitors.
TELEPHONE SYSTEM:
Correctly uses telephone system to notify nurses of arrhythmias and abnormal rhythms.
Uses the PPMH phone system to communicate effectively with patient's nurses.
Uses the Disaster phones appropriately.
TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USE:
Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
Understands equipment operation.
Maintains equipment in working order.
Troubleshoots equipment problems.
Uses technology to increase productivity.
Adapts to new technology
