Security Offficer

Job Summary:

Provide security for patients, employees, and visitors; protect hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)


Work Experience:

  • 2 - 3 years healthcare security and or Law Enforcement field with guard service or military police (Preferred)


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Not Applicable - No Certification and Licensure Requirements Required or Preferred


Essential Functions:
SECURITY DUTIES:

  • Provide safety and security for facility.
  • Patrols daily, by vehicle and on foot, all hospital buildings on campus grounds to detect, deter, or address .
  • Responds immediately to authorized requests for access to internal offices.
  • Maintains safety and security of warehouse through door checks and random vehicle and walking patrols.
  • Patrols all parking lots and assists visitors; escorts, when required, by vehicle or on foot patrol.
  • Keeps all Emergency Center hallways and ambulance ramp clear.
  • Inspects all access points to hospital authority building and internal offices, securing same when not occupied, following department policy and procedure.


TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USE:

  • Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
  • Understands equipment operation.
  • Maintains equipment in working order.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems.
  • Uses technology to increase productivity.
  • Adapts to new technology


Additional Duties:

  • Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
  • For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
